A brief overview of the results from this year's player / non-player competition, held on Saturday 18th March 2023.
This year's player & non-player competition was a huge success, bringing 22 pairs to the club to compete in a 6 end round robin event that saw some excellent bowling, glorious sunshine and good food/drink enjoyed by all. Here's a short review of the day...
Semi Final 1: Chris & Joely vs. Sylvia & Sandra
Winners of Group 1 (Chris & Joely) faced winners of Group 2 (Sylvia & Sandra) in the first semi-final which saw Chris and partner Joely claim victory in a tightly fought game that went right down to the wire in a deciding end after both pairs were tied 4-4 after six. Final result 5-4 to Chris and Joely! Commiserations Sylvia & Sandra - pictured below - who played well throughout the day.

Semi Final 2: Dan & Laura vs. Scott & Harry
Top of Group 3 (Dan & Laura) took on Group 4 winners (Scott & Harry) in another closely contested semi-final which saw Dan and Laura sneak home to progress to the final. With both pairs playing consistently all day, the final promised to be a close one. It was anyone's guess as to who might claim victory.

After an eventful day which saw some impressive bowling from both players and non-bowlers, we finished the afternoon with another tight game in the final. After 5 ends, the game was anybody's to decide being neck and neck with the scoreline tied at 4-4. Chris and Joely managed to score 2 points on the final end, however, to be crowned winners of the player/non-player competition 2023. Commiserations to Dan and Laura who played well throughout the day.

Once again, The Shipley Club would like to thank all pairs for entering to play. We hope you enjoyed the day and really loved seeing some new faces having a go out on the green.
